Book Bin Labels

Wow! I really can't believe its the third week of August and officially my last week of summer! I've been working in my classroom for the past week, and since I'm switching grades and moving rooms I decided to update a few things. The first thing on my list was my book bins. After 5 years my old bins were pretty beat up and all my labels were coming off. I found new bins at the Christmas Tree Shop, and searched all over for some pre-made labels but couldn't find anything I really liked/fit perfectly, so I decided to make some up myself.

I'll take a better picture once I get into my room this week, put the books in the bins and get them on the shelf!
I really like the way the new ones came out! I made 15 labels total, and used the polka dot classroom labels from Kelly Cox, http://prekinders.com/. These labels are FREE on TPT, and are awesome! I know I'll be using them a ton all over my classroom this year. I based most of the text and pictures on these book basket labels found on www.kellyskindergarten.com.

Dollar Store Flashcard Deal

I stopped at the Dollar Tree tonight and was super excited to come across these alphabet and number flashcards made by Playskool. I cleared out two Dollar Trees and bought one for each of my little kiddies (I have two half day classes, 24 students total!), and thought they would be great to use for either practice during the day or homework.  I've done math binders before with my older students, where the kids have flashcard practice each night for homework, and think these might work for adapting the idea for Pre-K!

Pre-K!!

I've been teaching for 4 years (Kindergarten, Second Grade, Third Grade) , and am SO excited for my new adventure next year...PRE-K!! I'll be at the same school, but I will be switching rooms.  I've been reading teaching blogs for about six months now, and slowly bookmarking and saving all the great ideas you all have. I thought that by starting this blog, it would be a great way to document this big change. I'm also busy planning my wedding for next summer (July 2012). Well here goes nothing!
